How to do a mindful breathing practice in only few short minutes to help calm feelings of anxiety and stress.
Dear Busy Mum,
Please take a few moments to read this and then try it in practice. Yes, you do have enough time, it will only take a couple of minutes.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit, resting your hands gently on your thighs. Close your eyes to remove the visual distraction of the room around you.
Now, I want you to focus on your breathing, in through your nostrils for a count of 6, 1…..2….3…..4…..5……6……, feeling your lungs expand and then your stomach before you breathe out 1……,2……,3…..4…..5….6…..
Next Imagine as you breathe in and count, the air you are breathing is the calming colour you chose, and you are going to see and feel that calming colour with every breathe travel through to every cell in your body in the most invigorating, calming and soothing way. Repeat until all the stress and tension falls from your body.
You can now, start to be more aware of your body, your surroundings, and bring the feeling of calm with you. And in your own time, you can open your eyes.
Whenever you now see your colour let it be a visual reminder to you to allow you to feel calm and less stressed and you will be reminded to slow down and show some self-love.
